Dennis Rodman also known as "The Worm" played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. "I am honored to be able to give my child hood hero Dennis Rodman my head coaching position for two games", stated Bulldogs current head coach and GM, James R. Schutz. "He has a lot more rings then I have - five more to be exact".
Rodman's agent Darren Prince, CEO of Prince Marketing Group, said that his client was looking forward to coaching the Elmira Bulldogs to victory on both games and for it to be a very exciting weekend for all the fans. Rodman commented by saying, "I wanted the opportunity to be a coach and now that Elmira Bulldogs have given me that chance I plan on showing them they made a very smart decision. I know a lot of teams will be interested in COACH Rodman when the weekend is over."

Last Season
Rebels Finish Regular Season at .500
It has been a good year for the Garden State Rebels. In their first year as a franchise, the Rebels finished the season at 5-5. Beginning with the first game against the Elmira Bulldogs (one of the best semi-pro teams in the nation), the Rebels proved that they fit in the league with hard play and a “no-quit” attitude. The Rebels held their own and made a name for themselves not only in the EBA but amongst the semi-pro circuit. Their success began with wins against The New York Wizards and Wilkes-Barre Triple Threat; this helped them solidify their place in the league. With ongoing support from Central H.S. and the JFK Center of Newark, the Rebels were able to establish one of the best home gymnasium atmospheres in the league.
Johnathan Jones, Brett Godette, and Justin Carter helped pace the Rebels. For the season, each of them finished in the top of the league in different statistical categories such as rebounds, steals, blocks, points, or assists. The Rebels are looking forward to the off-season. It will be a chance for them to give back to the community with camps, clinics, and youth leagues during the summer.
In Septmeber, the Rebels will hit the court in an EBA exhibition contest against the New York Wizards in the second half of a double-header with the NY Liberty at Madison Square Garden on Septmeber 13th, 2009. Contact Cheryl Robinson for group tickets exceeding 10 at gsrebelsmarketing@gmail.com. The 2009-2010 EBA season begins on December 12th, 2009. Schedules will be posted soon on our homepage.
The Rebels are also providing personal basketball instruction for children and pros of all levels from ages 10 and up. “We will take your game to the Next Level”, and welcome groups and individuals who are dedicated to being a better player and person. If your child resides in the Newark area, please contact Justin Carter at justinlamontcarter@yahoo.com. If your child resides in the New Brunswick area, please contact Brett Godette at mrbsg2005@yahoo.com.
We thank everyone who has supported us through our inaugural season. We hope you continue to support Rebel basketball for years to come.

Madison Square Garden
The Garden State Rebels apologize to our youth, student athletes, parents, and fans for failing to raise the funds to provide your tickets to our Madison Square Garden basketball event September 13th, 2009. In June of 2009, we met with Mayor Corey Booker, who verbally ordered his Aide to assist us with our needs and requests for your tickets. Our current global economic crisis and the City of Newark's need to furlough many of its programs to balance budgets all contributed to this cancellation. Those fans who were fortunate enough to purchase tickets, please mail your tickets stubs to 17 Brighton Terrace, Irvington NJ 07111 so we can rectify this situation..........
